It is thus true that Twain said that in order to be accepted by society, an individual has to conform, regardless of whether they like it or not. It is true that Twain was right when he said that human beings will always conform to what they believe will make them whole. This means that people should allow religion to take its course and also let it flow regardless of time. It is too hard to resist higher power and that is the reason why people cannot go against it. Therefore, if people naturally seek to conform to new notions and ideas, then in the shortest time possible, certain things will gain popularity.

She used a study conducted by a famous social psychologist known as Solomon Asch to make her point known. The study was indeed quite intriguing because it raised some issues that concern the adaptation to social groups. Therefore, the study in Blakeslee’s article is true because it claims that there are times when people will go against nature or established norms in society. This takes place because the individual wants to fit in with the rest of the people who seem to have power.
In my opinion, I believe that conformity is part and parcel of human nature, but there are times when it is ignored. This is regardless of whether it is aimed at individuals or at the larger society. The larger society and individuals are intertwined when it comes to matters concerning conformity. Twain says that “the outside influences are always pouring in on us, and we are always obeying their orders and accepting their verdicts”.
This can be easily interpreted to mean that there are times when a person can be forced into doing something wrong because of peer pressure. In turn, an individual ends up committing illegal acts such as theft or selling drugs. The individual has thus not conformed to the rules that have been established concerning such crimes. In the end, the individual is found guilty by a jury, and thus have to spend time in a prison cell because they were not able to conform to social order.
It is advisable that people learn to confirm in order to avoid getting into trouble. Conformity should be targeted towards things that have positive results. In turn, society, as well as individuals, will reap the rewards that come with conformity. For example, in school, individuals are taught how to interact with other people. This lays the foundation for future interactions and relationships that will exist. Individuals that learn how to conform to the ideals and rules established by the school administration will surely not get into any trouble.
On the contrary, individuals that do not follow the rules will have to face the consequences. This means that they are likely to be sent home from school and they will be shunned by the larger society that does not approve of anti-social behaviors. Once people decide that they want to conform to positive things in life, they will be sure to succeed in life. It is no wonder Twain said that a sense of belonging makes people want to confirm.
